Who we are
Intra Northern Uganda Dialogue on Long-term Reintegration of Displaced Persons
ANCHOR is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization whose goal is to reduce the suffering of the world’s most vulnerable groups and provide the tools and resources needed to increase their self-sufficiency. We are tackling violence and economic exclusion through organizational capacity development (strategy, infrastructure, research); sustainable conflict management and environmental protection; skilling youth, women, and girls; and combatting trafficking in persons.
ANCHOR is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization registered in Uganda whose goal is to reduce the suffering of the world’s most vulnerable groups and provide the tools and resources needed to increase their self-sufficiency.
Since its inception in 2014, ANCHOR has delivered conflict-sensitive programming with partners and alongside communities in the throes of violent conflict and recovery in Uganda, DR Congo, South Sudan, and Central African Republic, offering a holistic set of interventions that include community stabilization; organizational capacity development; infrastructure; research and advocacy; countering human trafficking; livelihoods and economic recovery; and behavior change communications programs. In its years of operation, ANCHOR has become a leader in delivering community-driven programming that builds peace, security, and economic inclusion in conflict-prone and conflict-affected areas.
A peaceful, stable and prosperous life for all.
Empowering underprivileged communities to better manage conflict and to create sustainable economic opportunity through peaceful co-existence (peace education, dialoge, conservation and natural resource governance); and economic inclusion (skilling, agro-industrialization, and entrepreneurship and business development).
We focus on those being left behind including forced and enforced migrants (people at risk in refugee, human trafficking, internal displacement, and assylum settings), and youth, women, and girls in very poor rural and urban settings.
